Emerging Leaders of the Americas Program (ELAP)
Scholarships for study / research in Canada
The ELAP Program is funded by the Government of Canada to help train the next generation in Latin America, and strengthen collaboration between Canadian and Latin American institutions. Awards can be used for study or research. Full-time students must be enrolled at eligible institutions; undergraduate scholarships require that institutions have an exchange agreement with a Canadian institution. Canadian institutions must apply on behalf of the student. For more information, see

Eligible Latin American and Caribbean countries:
- Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos;
- Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama;
- North America: Mexico; or
- South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela.

Applications open in February and are due in March each year, for exchanges beginning in July or the Fall semester of the next academic year. Contact your international office for more information.
DEADLINE: Mobility coordinators should submit student applications to a CALAREO Member institution no later than two weeks before the official deadline (March 19, 2024).
