In October 2020, the CALAREO Consortium signed an MOU with six public technical and polytechnic universities in the State of Querétaro, México, for academic and research cooperation.

Aeronautical University in Queretaro (UNAQ)
Located at Queretaro International Airport.
The arrival of Bombardier Aerospace in Queretaro in 2005 launched the development of the first aeronautical manufacturing cluster in Mexico, creating demand for educational, technological and applied research services for the aerospace and related sectors. UNAQ was established in 2007 to “Train professionals and researchers for the aeronautical sector, with values, knowledge, skills and national and international recognition, based on an open, flexible, relevant and closely linked educational model, for the social, economic and cultural development of Mexico.”  UNAQ offers specialty programs related to aerospace, including three technician diplomas, three engineering degrees, and two masters degrees in aerospace engineering and valuation of aeronautical assets.

Technological University of Queretaro (UTEQ)
It is located in the north of Queretaro City.
Throughout 21 years of experience in our entity, the Technological University of Querétaro has established itself as a quality Educational Institution that offers professional training whose hallmark is the close relationship with the productive sector. Currently, the educational offer consists of fourteen Higher University Technician (TSU) careers, eight Engineering and two Professional Engineering educational programs fully certified. The majority of the teaching staff has masters and doctorate studies in subjects related to those they teach. The educational model includes cultural and sports activities that provide comprehensive learning to students. UTEQ has three undergraduate degree programs and 12 engineering degree programs.

Polytechnic University of Queretaro (UPQ)
It is located just outside of Queretaro City, to the south.
UPQ is a public university oriented to the skills development of students with the highest academic quality. Teachers facilitate, encourage and interact with students to help them achieve their goals. UPQ offers undergraduate engineering programs in mechatronics, computer, auto tech, manufacturing technology, and communications and business. UPQ offers a master’s in production and a master’s in administration.

Universidad Tecnológica de San Juan del Río

Technological University of San Juan del Rio (UTSJR)
Located in San Juan del Rio, 45 minutes from Queretaro City, near Tequisquiapan and Bernal.
UTSJR offers university careers closely linked to the productive sector. Its main objective is to achieve comprehensive quality education so that students have solid knowledge, practical experience, attitudes and values. It has won many prizes in Mexico. The Technological University of San Juan del Río has nine university programs, including eight engineering degrees.

Polytechnic University of Santa Rosa Jauregui (UPSRJ)
Located north of Queretaro, near San Miguel de Allende.
UPSRJ follows the “BIS” model – Bilingual, International and Sustainable.  It is the first bilingual university in Queretaro.  It has programs in Computational Robotics Engineering, Physical Therapy, Software Engineering, Industrial Metrology Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, Animation and Visual Effects Engineering, and a Master´s degree in Science Education Teaching, and related programs of research. Technical University of Corregidora (UTC)
It is located 40 minutes south of Queretaro City.
UTC focuses on the comprehensive training of professionals who meet the needs of the social and productive sectors with quality, but at the same time seeks to respond to the expectations of young people interested in joining the labour market to be more and better prepared. Its mission is to link the university community with the productive and social sector as a substantive activity of the educational model, promoting the constant updating of teachers, graduates, and society. UTC offers university programs in Maintenance, Mechatronics, Chemistry, IT, Tourism, Software Architecture and Biotechnology.

About Queretaro

The State of Queretaro, or “Queretaro,” is located 2 hours to the north of Mexico City, part of Mexico´s colonial heartland. The State capital is the City of Queretaro (Official name: Santiago de Queretaro), a traditional colonial highland city. Queretaro is safe, accessible, and strategically located in the centre of the Mexican Republic. Queretaro has a rich historical and cultural past and is one of Mexico’s foremost economic and touristic centres. There is an international airport in Queretaro City and nearby Leon, Guanajuato. The State has an area of 11,688 sq. kilometres and 18 municipalities.  The main industrial areas are in Queretaro City, El Marqués, Colón and San Juan del Rio. Nearby municipalities dedicated to tourism are Queretaro City, Tequisquiapan, Bernal, and San Miguel de Allende (State of Guanajuato). Queretaro has three UNESCO World Heritage Sites (5 Franciscan Missions in the Sierra Gorda, the historical centre and aqueduct of Queretaro City, and the “Camino Real Hacienda Route“), 6 “Magical Towns” (Pueblos Mágicos) 25 wineries, and 272 cultural venues. The State also has excellent restaurants, hotels and luxury malls.

The State has a population of 2.09 million people, and the average age is 26 years.  Eleven percent of all foreign direct investment in the State is from Canada (second after the US).  Its main industrial hubs are aerospace, IT, biotechnology, plastics, renewable energies, and automotive. International competitiveness indicators consistently rank Queretaro in the top places to invest in Mexico.

Higher Education:  There are 85 higher education institutions and 50 research centres in the State of Queretaro (ranked third in Mexico for the numbers of researchers), including the public network of 6 Polytechnics/Technological universities, highly linked to the industry, with programs in several fields of knowledge and exciting applied research.
